I read up on symptoms of a bad drive-shaft u- joint and they sound different. There's usually shutter or vibration, metal on metal sounds or having a hard time turning the wheels. I don't have any of those but I also read up a lot on transfer case symptoms and it doesn't sound like those either. This is really confusing. I had no idea the BMW hex code was so non-specific. [The 4-digit code number itself is "non-specific" in many instances, but there are "additional digits" or identifiers which are NOT read or interpreted by "Non-BMW" Scan Tools. As stated before, INPA gives you BOTH a detailed definition AND the corresponding P-code. Forget about the battery, the grounds and OBCs for now. Make sure your belts are tight. Measure the voltage output across the large +ve terminal of the alternator and the -ve post used for jump starting the car. Rev to 2500rpm, hold it there and tell us what the voltage is. It should be about 14.3 volts. Poor Mileage. The fuel economy of a car will get severely impacted by a choking throttle body. The ideal way of measuring the mileage is the full tank-to-full tank method. You first put a full tank of fuel, make a note of the odometer readings or set one of the trip meters to zero and then travel a few hundred kilomet

There's no real test for the IBS. If you start having the starting problem again, fully charge the battery using a digital charger. Disconnect the 2 leads going to the IBS (blue connector at the rear distribution panel) and the small twin lead going to the ECM. This will cause the ECM to default to 14.3V charging.
Hi I am having a problem with my 5 series bmw 1999. The battery keeps going flat and I have tried a new battery, disconnecting the cd changer and. have checked all lights go off when the car is parked. I now have to diconnect the battery when the car is parked to stop it from draining. I have been told to pull the heater blower fuse (made no The most common signs of bad ignition coils in BMW 3 Series are engine hesitation when accelerating or loss of power, rough idle, misfires, excessive fuel consumption, check engine light illuminates, and sometimes hard starting. In worst case scenario, if the ignition coils are in really bad condition, the engine will not start.
The voltage should be between 13.5 and 14.8 volts with the engine running. Switch on the accessories in your 3 Series, for example, headlights, AC fan at full speed, and interior lights. The voltage should remain around 14 volts. If it drops and remain below 13.5 volts, it indicates a problem with the current supply from the alternator.
